Assumptions Of An Ideal Gas

The following are the assumptions on which the kinetic theory of a gas is based on,

1. Gases are made up of large number of molecules.

2. The intermolecular distances are very large as compared to size of the molecules.

3. The gas molecules are constantly under random motion.

4. The collision between the two gas molecules and the collision between the molecules with wall of the container are perfectly elastic.

5. The moving molecules only posses kinetic energy.

6. The density of the gas molecules remains uniform throughout the gas
